Payment Methods Accepted
Insurance & Reimbursement
Many extended health benefit plans cover counselling provided by a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW). Coverage varies by plan — check with your provider before your first session.
How Insurance Coverage Works
- Most extended health plans cover RSW services — confirm your mental health benefit with your provider before booking
- A detailed receipt is emailed automatically after each session for reimbursement
- Direct billing is available through Telus eClaims for participating insurers
- Direct billing is also available through Medavie Blue Cross where eligible
- If your plan reimburses rather than direct bills, submit your receipt directly to your insurer

NIHB Coverage
Evolution Counselling and Wellness is a registered NIHB provider through the Qalipu First Nation and Nunatsiavut Government.
- Eligible First Nations and Inuit clients may receive up to 22 hours of mental health counselling per calendar year
- NIHB is billed directly — no out-of-pocket cost for eligible clients
- Contact the practice before booking to confirm eligibility and set up billing
Not sure if your plan covers RSW services? Call your benefits provider and ask: “Does my plan cover mental health counselling provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW)?” That specific question will get you a clear answer.
Policies
Clear expectations help ensure that sessions are productive and respectful of everyone’s time.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
At least 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee.
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Late cancellations affect availability for others who need support.
Confidentiality
Everything you share in sessions is private and confidential. Information is not shared with employers, family members, or anyone else without your written consent.
Standard legal exceptions apply in narrow circumstances — specifically when there is imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or another person, or when required by a court order.
Virtual Sessions & Technology
All sessions are conducted through secure, encrypted video platforms that meet Canadian privacy standards.
A stable internet connection and a private space are recommended. If technical difficulties arise, your therapist will contact you directly to resolve them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about fees, coverage, and how sessions work.
Does my insurance cover counselling with a Registered Social Worker?
Many extended health plans do cover RSW services, but coverage varies by provider and plan. The best way to confirm is to call your benefits provider directly and ask whether your plan covers counselling by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW). If coverage is confirmed, direct billing is available through Telus eClaims and Medavie Blue Cross where eligible.
Do you offer direct billing to insurance?
Yes, where eligible. Direct billing is available through Telus eClaims and Medavie Blue Cross. For all other plans, a detailed receipt is sent automatically after each session so you can submit for reimbursement directly.
Is NIHB coverage accepted?
Yes. Evolution Counselling and Wellness is a registered provider with Qalipu First Nation and Nunatsiavut Government under the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program. Eligible clients can access up to 22 hours of mental health counselling per calendar year. Contact the practice before booking to confirm eligibility and arrange billing.
What happens if I miss a session or cancel late?
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee. If something urgent comes up, reach out as soon as possible. Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you and cannot be offered to someone else on short notice.
Is there a sliding scale or reduced fee option?
If cost is a barrier to accessing support, reach out directly to discuss your situation. The practice aims to make care as accessible as possible within its capacity.
Will my employer know I am in therapy?
No. Your participation in counselling is entirely confidential. Employers are not informed, and records are not shared with workplaces. This applies to first responders and others in regulated occupations as well.
How do I get a receipt for my insurance claim?
Receipts are sent automatically by email after each paid session. If you need a receipt resent or need a specific format for your insurer, contact the practice directly.
